They are additionally outfitted with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics that, when coupled with the large objectives, produce bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color rendition in even the most challenging light. Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the binoculars durable and comfortable to use. The chassis is made from a combination of aluminum and polycarbonate to help reduce the weight and to make them impact and corrosion resistant. The optical tubes are wrapped with rubber armoring, which not only protects them from drops and impacts, but also gives the binoculars a slip-resistant grip—especially in cold and wet weather. Their optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof, even when moving through extreme changes in temperature and environmental conditions. The large objective lenses boost the weight to almost 2 pounds, so for long-duration observation sessions the binoculars can be mounted on a tripod using an optional adapter to eliminate arm fatigue or to leave both hands free for other activities.
